Last night I spoke to the Town Council regarding the local mask mandate and the negative impact it has had on our local businesses. My key points were as follows:

  1. The Health Board failed to properly notify residents of their mask mandate vote. This possibly violated the state’s open meeting laws.
  2. The Health Board failed to report the order to the Department of Environmental Protection as they were required to do according to M.G.L. c. 111, section 31.
  3. The mask mandate is hurting small businesses.
  4. The Town Council has the authority to end the mandate under Article 2, Section 5 of the Home Rule Charter.
