The newly appointed East Longmeadow health board held its first meeting tonight (November 2, 2021) and voted unanimously to “rescind the mask mandate for all indoor public places.” I spoke at the meeting along with three other East Longmeadow residents who oppose the mandate. Prior to the hearing, I gave the board members a copy of a petition submitted to the town council in October seeking to end the mask mandate pursuant to one of the “Citizens’ Relief Mechanisms” contained in the town charter. (See Article 8, Section 8-2 of the Charter.) The petition was signed by 229 East Longmeadow voters. I also submitted a letter signed by two dozen local businesses supporting the petition.
I’ll provide more details about this story as I get them.
