Personally, I’m done playing COVID.  I’m tired of hearing about “the numbers” and listening to “the experts.”  I’m done with the fear and the hysteria.  At this point, it’s all a bit trite.

But our media and government officials will never—never—let this pandemic go.  Fear and panic are just too good for business.  So they continue to track and report COVID data.  And every few weeks or so we get the same old recycled story about COVID cases “surging!” in this region or that.

This weekend WWLP posted a story entitled Massachusetts has seen the largest spike in COVID-19 cases across the U.S.  The information in the story comes from data collected from the Johns Hopkins University.  It shows that Massachusetts indeed leads the nation in new COVID cases with an average of 2,657 new cases a day—a 103% increase from the average two weeks earlier.

What’s especially interesting about this is that Massachusetts is the most vaccinated state in America, according to the latest data from U.S. News.  As of November 17, nearly 82% of Massachusetts residents are fully vaccinated.

Similarly, Rhode Island (the 7th most vaccinated state) has the second highest number of new COVID cases and Connecticut (the 4th most vaccinated state) has the third highest number.
