On November 18, the Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School District (HWRSD) listened to pediatrician Amy Kasper recite the usual platitudes about COVID-19 vaccine safety and efficacy.

Parents everywhere, don’t let your firsthand experience with this virus fool you. Children are at grave risk. In fact, according to Dr. Kasper, at least 150 children have died from COVID. Rounding up, that’s 0.0000001% of the US population.

To put this into perspective, consider the following facts from the CDC:

  • Approximately 1,095 American children under the age of 14 drown to death each year.
  • About 730 American children die annually of poisoning.
  • And 608 American kids under 12 died in car accidents in 2019.

But we shouldn’t dwell of the substance of Dr. Kasper’s presentation. She was there merely to help give justification for the committee’s decision to host a vaccine clinic at Thornton W. Burgess Elementary School from 3pm to 7 pm on November 30. The aim of the clinic, of course, is to jab as many kids as possible with the experimental COVID vaccine.
