Today the Massachusetts Commissioner of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released a memo announcing an end to the statewide school mask mandate on February 28, 2022.
The memo states,
After consulting with medical experts and state health officials, the Commissioner will not renew the state mask requirement after it expires on February 28, 2022. Effective Monday, February 28, the DESE mask requirement will be lifted statewide.
Unfortunately, this will have no effect for school kids in East Longmeadow where the town’s health board has imposed its own mask mandate for all indoor public settings including schools.
The health board is scheduled to meet this week. For their agenda click here. If you support ending the local mask mandate, please attend the meeting and state your opinions during public comment or email the board members directly.

* Please Help me understand* DESE ( The State) mandates masks with out any discussion ( presumably based on the “Science” from the CDC ( The Feds ) . Then New Jersey drops their mandate on 2/7 then CT on 2/8 … meanwhile the CDC says it is too soon. All the while all of the “intelligencia” on the nightly news are telling us that the pandemic is over after trying to cancel Christmas and recommending 3+ EXPERIMENTAL Shots and thicker masks (coming in the mail from the Feds). Who will the town side with the FEDs or the STATE? They should just wait and see what the surrounding towns choose? (The most “Scientific”)
I just hope starving my Childrens’ growing brains of oxygen and normal social interactions saved at least one person from a headcold.

It’s all so stupid. Most people are done playing COVID. But the media and government will never give it up.
